Food Movement Mentorship With Maybach Foundation
-
Our Role
Seedling Projects has partnered with the Maybach Foundation to launch their first sustainable food mentorship program. The Maybach Foundation’s 2013 Culinary Arts and Sustainable Food Leadership project is the first of its kind, offering young people with a real commitment to food system issues the opportunity to develop ideas and realize their potential. Seedling Projects Director Sarah Weiner serves as a mentor for one of this year’s two selected protégés. Sarah’s guidance as an established voice at the forefront of the American sustainable food movement was especially sought, and the protégé has been welcomed into Seedling Project’s extensive network.

Project Details
In addition to structuring the opportunity and identifying the hosts and protégés, Seedling Projects is hosting one of the first protégés Tessa Tricks. Seedling Projects will help Tessa to advance her professional skills and knowledge of food systems, leaving her with experiences and ideas which can be transposed and implemented in other parts of the globe. The mentorship is also an opportunity for Tessa to witness the unique food culture within the San Francisco and Bay area. Project elements include personal and business development, engagement with Food Movement actors and national growers and producers, as well as kitchen experience and community project involvement.
